2011 Ford Explorer

The 2011 Ford Explorer can hit zero to sixty miles per hour in 8.3 seconds and can get 17 miles per gallon in the city and 25 miles on the highway. On the other end, it can go from 60 to 0 miles per hour in 122 feet for its braking distance.

When you get inside the new Explorer, you immediately notice that the inside has added many more luxuries. It comes standard with the Ford MyKey, MyFord Touch, and Sync. In a move that is the first ever in the auto industry, the 2011 Ford Explorer comes with with second row airbags that are in the seatbelts. Another safety feature that’s nice are the rear parking sensors that help with those dark areas behind you. This is a nice addition but doesn’t stop there. Also added is the brake support, collision warning system, and the blind spot warning system (includes cross traffic alert). These are options on both the XLT and Limited.

The Explorer can easily tow your boat or trailer that weights up to 5,000 pounds. If you’re wanting to pull that boat to the lake, it can do it with the family in the car as well. It’s equally at home pulling a load or bringing home the groceries.

Every 2011 Ford Explorer comes standard with traction control, stability control, trailer sway control, side curtain airbags, front side airbags, and MyKey. MyKey will let the parents set specific limits on the SUV’s speed and stereo volume control. The new stability control system works with Fords curve control that reduces the Explorer’s speed if the sensors detect that it’s going to fast around a curve.

The Explorer has finally lost the truck aspect and actually drives like a car now. But, it can still pull your family boat or RV for those weekend outings. It feels solid on the pavement, smooth over the bumps, and sticky through the curves.

Even though we liked the days of the V8 in the 2011 Ford Explorer, the V6 is pretty darn quick and gets excellent mpg.
